SONS

Sunday 2 December 2018. 10am- 7pm

Canolfan Pentre Ifan, Pembrokeshire. Wales/ Cymru,

SONS is a workshops celebrating the season, the landscape and the boy, alongside his parents.
For a Father or Mother and their Son (aged 7 -12years)
Simon facilitates the group to explore the woodland and each other through a combination of working outdoors and inside the studio. Past events have included making dens, tracking animals, walking along riverbeds, playing in the dark, building and lighting a fire and taking elements of these to explore through movement. (You do not need any previous experience of movement. or dance work to take part in SONS.)

For SONS the setting is the ancient woodland of Tycanol with its oaks, streams, clearings, iron age fort and abundant wildlife. These will be the scenes for explorations in movement, walking, drawing, clay pot making and shelter-building.

Simon originally began SONS in 2003 at Penpynfarch, followed by 7 workshops, with many boys and parents returning over the years. This new version of SONS develops Simon’s experience of crafting experiences for people in relation to landscape and each other, focussing on play, movement and making as ways of being together and learning from a place.

For this workshop we begin with the premise that we are all someone’s SON or someone’s DAUGHTER.

We will be joined by potter Peter Bodenham of St Dogmaels Pottery.
Pete will guide us through a process of making small clay pots that we can fire.
