Craniosacral Therapy

CRANIOSACRAL THERAPY is a ‘hands on’ therapy. A Biodynamic approach to health, this is a gentle and non-invasive healing form suitable for all ages. This body-based therapy may aid people with a range of conditions by engendering the balanced, deeply relaxed conditions necessary for the body to open to its own innate healing processes. Craniosacral therapy can benefit people suffering from physical pain, fatigue, stress- related illness, back injury and trauma.

Developed from clinical experience, Craniosacral therapy reveals that health is something active and within any condition that your body is expressing, health is always present. My work is to help to realign your system with this innate intelligence, with respect, gentle touch and dialogue.

In a typical session you will usually lie (sometimes sit) fully clothed on a treatment couch. I will make contact by placing my hands lightly on your body to ‘listen in’. Contact is gentle, slow and negotiated.

Firstly, you may notice a sense of ease and relaxation, which may deepen during the session. Or you may not feel much at all and as session work develops over a number of treatments, we may access deeper resources and health benefits that extend into everyday life.

SIMON

I have been practicing Craniosacral Therapy for over 20 years. I trained at the Karuna Institute, established by Franklyn Sills, a pioneering teacher of Craniosacral Biodynamics. This is an approach that acknowledges the deepest foundations of the whole body system and where we, as human beings are seen to be an expression of the wholeness of life itself.

I combine my therapeutic work with my work as a movement artist, dancer, teacher, writer and collaborator.

Following a serious spinal injury as a dancer in 1998 I discovered for myself the transformative and gentle power of this healing form and this, in time, inspired me to train as a therapist. In 2009-11 I assisted on the professional Training for Biodynamic Craniosacral Therapy at the Karuna Institute.

I have recently completed a practice-led PhD at the University of Glasgow, where my research was grounded in the ecologies of touch, and worked from the premise that it is through touch that we understand ourselves to be part of a moving Earth. Touch, in my experience, being the mother of all the senses…

I am currently returning to my Craniosacral practice, and I am excited to bring my recent thinking, feeling and learning to this context.

I live in north Pembrokeshire with my partner and teenage daughters.

‘Being in touch’ is an earthly practice, a geophilosophy. It is not something we do, something we decide to take on, or do more of. It is the very condition of our being alive at all.’
